Greening the roof of the Tawesco press hall will save half the energy costs and significantly reduce CO₂ emissions

The project was made possible thanks to support from the European Regional Development Fund under the Operational Program Enterprise and Innovation for Competitiveness. A costly investment was necessary. The roof cladding was at the end of its service life and the trapezoidal sheets were in disrepair in places. The hall was leaking, which damaged its structure and also disrupted production. Fluorescent lighting and sodium discharge lamps were replaced with energy-saving LED lamps with automatic regulation and remote control. After less than two years of work, the project is complete and Tawesco can now boast a new insulated roof and new lighting. The Energy Savings Project was co-financed by the European Union, which contributed a subsidy of CZK 33 million.

Benefits of the greening of Tawesco's press hall

Both implementations will ensure significant savings in energy consumption. The replacement of the roof cladding with insulation of the roof area and vertical walls of the roof levels and the replacement of lighting fulfilled the requirements of the energy assessment that formed the basis for the project. This determined a minimum saving of:

Description of the work carried out

The Energy Savings Project included the replacement of the complete roofing system of trapezoidal sheeting, gas silicate and concrete composition, which was replaced with a systemic insulating roof panel. The waterproofing layer of asphalt strips was replaced with a roofing membrane. The vertical walls of the roof height changes were insulated with insulation panels. At the same time, the internal rainwater downpipes were partially replaced and a new lightning conductor was installed on the roof. The new roof meets the prescribed fire safety requirements. Lighting fixtures were replaced, including cabling and electrical switchboards, on both floors of the hall. The work was carried out with full production operation.
