An autonomous vehicle by Stäubli could improve internal logistics and material flow at TAWESCO

TAWESCO has started testing an autonomous guided vehicle (AGV) by Stäubli, which has the potential to enhance in-plant logistics and streamline material flow in production.

The testing builds on the implementation of a private 5G network, developed in collaboration with telecom operator T-Mobile.

What are we evaluating?

– The AGV’s behavior in production and other technical areas
– Obstacle detection, movement accuracy, and performance of safety sensors
– Operation under a load of up to 3 tonnes
– Differences in performance when connected via 5G vs. Wi-Fi

“Autonomous logistics is an important step toward more efficient and flexible production management. It supports our long-term strategy to rank among the top three European companies in the field of stamped and welded parts,” says Margita Rejchrtová, CEO of TAWESCO.

Further testing is already being prepared – this time with lower-capacity vehicles, which are easier to deploy in additional areas of the facility.

“Digitalization and automation are key pillars of Promet Group’s long-term strategy to remain competitive and successful in the market. We believe that developing an autonomous in-house transport system will become a core element of our smart factory ecosystem,” adds Radim Matera, Member of the Board of Promet Group responsible for innovation.
